Over 500 guests filled the Augusta Marriott Ballroom April 26 for the DCG’s “50 Years of Building Smiles Celebration.” Highlights included a reception sponsored by the Georgia Dental Association, attended by former Deans David Myer and Brad Potter, as well as founding Dean Judson C. Hickey’s widow, Jean; a musical fanfare by the Garden City Chorus, which includes several members of the DCG faculty; a historical video introduced by Provost Gretchen Caughman; accolades by President Brooks Keel; and proclamations from the city, state, GDA, federal government and Governor’s Office. Honorees included the inaugural class, emeritus faculty, JAG 20/Outstanding Alumni and Distinguished Alumni. The evening concluded with student Luke Robert’s performance of his original piece, “Dental School Blues,” which brought the house down.
